The Rainbow Resource : A One Stop Shop for Solving All Things Behavior.

Updated: Sep 28

Hello and Welcome to The Rainbow Resource

When I think about writing this first post, I can’t help but smile. It feels a little like sitting down with a friend over some frozen yogurt and sharing where I’ve been, where I’m going, and why I feel so deeply called to this work. So, let me introduce myself. My name is Dr. Takiiah Holman, and this is the beginning of something I hope will grow into more than just a blog. My dream is for this space to become a community. A place where stories, encouragement, and practical tools come together to support families, educators, and the next generation we are growing.

I grew up in Oxford, Mississippi, where I graduated from Oxford High School before stepping into a journey that would take me much farther than I ever imagined. As a first-generation graduate at every level (high school, college, master’s, and doctoral), I’ve lived with both the weight of expectation and the power of perseverance. There were times when statistics said I shouldn’t make it, when sexism, racism, or even my own self-doubt whispered that I wasn’t enough. But each challenge became part of my story, shaping me into the woman I am today: determined, hopeful, and deeply committed to opening doors for others.

My calling revealed itself in the most unexpected of places, a kindergarten classroom. I was assisting a teacher when I met a child with autism whose spirit and struggles touched me in a way I can still feel today. Something shifted inside me in that moment. I knew I had found my purpose and identified my why. I want to stand with children like him, and with the families who love them, walking alongside them as they navigate challenges and celebrate victories.

That moment set my path. I earned my Bachelor’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders, followed by both a Master’s and Doctorate in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis at the University of Memphis. Today, as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst- Doctoral (BCBA-D), I’ve had the privilege of working with toddlers, early and middle childhood, and teens across homes, schools, clinics, and even through telehealth. I’ve trained behavior technicians, BCBAs, teachers, and supported parents. The most important role in all of that was celebrating every milestone, no matter how big or small, right alongside families and their communities.

But here’s what I want you to know most: my story isn’t just about degrees or credentials. It’s about heart. Growing up in Mississippi and now having worked in underserved areas of Arkansas and Tennessee, I’ve seen what it means for families to fight for services, often traveling hours or piecing together resources on their own. That’s why I do this work. Not just to provide therapy or training, but to bring hope, support, and a sense of “you are not alone” to every family I meet.

So why this blog? Because I want to invite you in. I want to share the real, human side of this journey. I want to share the triumphs, the lessons, the hard days, and the small wins worth celebrating. I want parents to feel seen, teachers to feel supported, and anyone reading to walk away with both encouragement and practical tools to assist with behavior.

Here’s what you’ll find in the posts to come:

  • Parenting and teaching strategies you can actually use in everyday life.

  • Encouragement for the tough days, because we all have them.

  • Stories of growth and success that remind us progress is always possible.

  • Personal reflections, where I’ll share the heart behind the work I do.

Thank you for being here. My hope is that as you read, you’ll feel not just informed, but uplifted. Because at the end of the day, my story is not just mine. It’s part of a bigger story we’re all writing together. A story of growth, resilience, and hope.

With warmth and gratitude,

Dr. Takiiah Holman

GOD bless you. There is definitely a need for this service. There are currently many adults who could have benefited from this early in there life. I applaud you for fishing and catching this at an early age. Time is not easy especially in these times. Our muscles, strength and GOD is what got us through, but now we need to rely on New Strength. New strength from GOD almighty and our mind has to be able to comprehend his instructions. Thank you and my prayers 🙏 are with you.
